On the afternoon of November 8th, 2017, the unveiling ceremony of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission Sichuan Sub-commission and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission Sichuan Free Trade Zone Arbitration Center was held in Chengdu. The Vice Chairman of CCPIT Lu Pengqi and the Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government Zhu Hexin addressed this ceremony.

Lu pointed out that, CIETAC is the earliest commercial arbitration institution of China. After development for sixty years, CIETAC has accumulated rich experience of managing arbitration cases, gained good international reputation, and become an internationally renowned arbitration institution. The establishment of CIETAC Sichuan Free Trade Zone Arbitration Center (Sichuan Sub-commission) will provide internationally leading, efficient, fair and equitable arbitration services and related legal services with high quality for Sichuan enterprises. It will cooperate with all relevant parties to jointly build a business environment that is international, convenient and ruled by law, and will take good use of arbitration to solve disputes arising in the course of Sichuan’s economic integration into the world and safeguard the development of Sichuan’s open economy and the construction of Free Trade Zone.

On behalf of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, Zhu expressed his congratulations to the unveiling of CIETAC Sichuan Sub-commission and CIETAC Sichuan Free Trade Zone Arbitration Center. Based on his own work experience, Zhu illustrated the important role international arbitration is playing in foreign trade and investment. He pointed out that, in recent years, as an economic center in Western China, Sichuan has took its initiative to adapt to the new normality of economic development in accordance with the national strategic positioning of Sichuan, has gained remarkable achievements in the supply-side structural reforms and the construction of an open economic system, and has been changing from a big economic province to a powerful economic province. Since its establishment in last April, Sichuan Free Trade Zone based in China Inland, connected between the East and the West, and established "Four Districts and One Highland" strategic positioning. Various experiments and explorations of reforms were  carried out rapidly and effectively. The clustering effect was emerging gradually, which indicated a good start for reforms. He said, the establishment of CIETAC Sichuan Sub-commission and CIETAC Sichuan Free Trade Zone Arbitration Center in Sichuan is a good event for economic activities in Sichuan and even the western region, and will be a tremendous boost for Sichuan to speed up the construction of inland open highland and improve the business environment of Sichuan, especially for the exploration and development of the Sichuan Free Trade Zone.

CCPIT (Sichuan) Free Trade Zone Service Center and CCPIT (Sichuan) Free Trade Zone Mediation Center was unveiled and established on the same day.

Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CIETAC Wang Chengjie, Chairman of CCPIT Sichuan Province Li Gang, Vice Director of Sichuan Free Trade Zone Office Chen Youqing, Vice Secretary-General of Chengdu Municipal Government Liao Chengzhen, Chairman of CCPIT Chengdu Wang Tiangang, Vice Director of Chengdu Free Trade Zone Office Zhang Jinquan, Vice Director of the High-tech Zone Management Committee Chen Hongtao and other leaders from relevant provinces and cities attended the unveiling ceremony. More than 100 people including scholars, arbitrators, mediators, lawyers and enterprises from the free trade zone as well as the news media participated in the unveiling ceremony.
