On February 3, 2026, Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), led a delegation to visit Lee and Li, Attorneys-at-Law in Taipei, Taiwan, China. Representatives from Lee and Li including Chairman Lee Chia-Ching, CEO Robin Chang, Deputy CEO Lin Yao, and Partners Patrick Marros Chu, Benjamin Li, Joyce Chen and Hsiao Wei-Sung , warmly greeted the CIETAC delegation.

Lee and Li, Attorneys-at-Law is the oldest and largest law firm in Taiwan, China. It was established over 60 years ago, with “we care” “we serve” and “we excel” as its core values. It is highly sought after by clients for its comprehensive and premium legal services. Over the years, Lee and Li, Attorneys-at-Law has been dedicating itself to promoting the exchange and cooperation between Two Sides of the Taiwan Strait in arbitration and law, playing a positive role in enhancing exchange and mutual learning.

Secretary-General Wang Chengjie pointed out that, CIETAC has both witnessed and greatly promoted extensive exchanges between the arbitration communities of both sides, pioneering close interactions and sowing the seeds for future cooperation. Against the backdrop of increasingly frequent cross-strait economic and trade exchanges, deepening cooperation in arbitration and law becomes a shared aspiration of arbitration industries on both sides and turns out a necessity to protect legal rights of compatriots across the strait and to promote cross-strait economic and trade development. Thanks to the joint efforts of professionals from all walks of life on both sides, the CIETAC delegation has successfully paid a visit to Taiwan, China after 8 years since last time, opening a new chapter for cross-strait communication and cooperation. CIETAC sincerely looks forward to taking this opportunity to further strengthen mutual understanding and deepen practical collaboration with Taiwan arbitration community. Chairman Lee Chia-Ching, briefed on the constant efforts made by his law firm to engage in and promote cross-strait arbitration exchanges, and shared his insights gained from participating cross-strait professional legal discussions. Subsequently, leaders of the law firm’s cross-border litigation and arbitration, and financial investment group respectively presented the Lee and Li’s history, practices, advantages and track records in cross-border arbitration and the enforcement of award, public infrastructure arbitration and its knowledge management framework.

 

 

During the meeting, the attendees also shared their own experiences and exchanged opinions on the application of artificial intelligence technology in legal service, particularly in arbitration, reaching a consensus that, the rapid development of high tech like AI, creates a brand new landscape for arbitration and legal industry. Therefore, the legal communities of both sides of the strait shall strengthen communication regarding key topics such as the development of intelligent legal tool and AI plus arbitration, working together to serve parties from both sides of the strait with premium and efficient dispute resolution service.

The success of this forum vividly demonstrates that the arbitration and legal communities of both sides of the strait are building consensus and deepening cooperation. It has built a bridge for exchanges and collaboration between CIETAC and legal practitioners in Taiwan, China, and represents a proactive exploration of how the legal service industries on both sides of the strait can leverage digital and intelligent technologies to tackle challenges brought by the digital age. CIETAC will continuously broaden the scope and enrich the forms of cross-strait arbitration and legal cooperation, while taking more practical measures on rules cohesion, technology integration and talent exchange, creating a better legal service environment for compatriots across the strait.
