On 10 December 2025, XIE Changqing, Vice President of the Arbitration Court of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”),  received JI Xuefeng, Vice President of the Tianjin Lawyers Association (“Tianjin Lawyers Association”), and 37 lawyers from Tianjin who were attending a foreign-related lawyers talent training program at the China University of Political Science and Law. 

 

 

Vice President XIE Changqing extended a warm welcome to Vice President JI Xuefeng and his delegation, and gave a detailed overview of CIETAC’s long-standing efforts to maintain the advanced nature of its arbitration rules, build a professional panel of arbitrators, establish a diversified dispute resolution mechanism, support the cultivation of highly qualified foreign-related rule-of-law talent and promote international exchanges and cooperation. Vice President XIE further noted that lawyers are a key driving force in advancing the development of arbitration and achieving its value objectives, and that CIETAC’s internationalised development has, in turn, provided a solid foundation and broad platform for the legal profession to benchmark against cutting-edge international arbitration practice, expand arbitration-related work and integrate into the domestic and international arbitration community; against the backdrop of the new era, CIETAC hopes to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the legal profession, jointly promote the high-quality and internationalised development of Chinese arbitration, and jointly demonstrate new commitment and achievements in the building of foreign-related rule of law.

JI Xuefeng, Vice President of the Tianjin Lawyers Association, presented an overview of the development of the Tianjin legal profession, highly commended CIETAC’s leading role in the field of dispute resolution, and expressed the hope of working together in future to build a high-level and professional platform for exchange on arbitration and legal matters.

 

 

QU Zhujun, CIETAC Arbitrator and Former Director of the Working Department,  gave the visiting lawyers a detailed explanation of the 2024 CIETAC Arbitration Rules, providing an in-depth analysis of the background to the revision of the new arbitration rules, their core contents and innovative highlights, and, drawing on her extensive practical experience in arbitration, answered the lawyers’ questions. ZHOU Wen, Director of CIETAC’s Domestic Cases Division and Secretary-General of CIETAC Tianjin Sub-Commission,  introduced the rapid development of the Tianjin Sub-Commission, and stated that it would continue to work hand in hand with the Tianjin Lawyers Association to contribute to the building of a sound arbitration ecosystem in Tianjin.

The visiting lawyers also toured CIETAC under the guidance of its staff. They all remarked that the visit had been highly rewarding, and that they would, going forward, take a more active part in professional activities organized by CIETAC in order to enhance their expertise in arbitration practice.
