On 12 November 2025, the 28th Beijing–Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium opened in grand fashion. Centring on the economic complementarity between Beijing and Hong Kong, the conference focused on key areas such as financial services, technological innovation, professional services, consumption and trade, and further expanded and deepened high-quality cooperation between the two cities in priority sectors including scientific and technological innovation, the digital economy and the service industry. On the afternoon of 12 November, a Chaoyang District special promotion event, co-hosted by Chaoyang District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality  and Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau,  and organised by Beijing Chaoyang District Investment Promotion Bureau, was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Under the theme “Synergizing Beijing and Hong Kong, Connecting the Globe–Sharing Chaoyang with the World”, the event attracted over 200 representatives from government departments, industry organizations, leading enterprises and the professional services sectors in both Beijing and Hong Kong. WANG Haocheng, Deputy Secretary General of the CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center, was invited to join representatives of the legal and business communities from both cities in a roundtable discussion themed “New Pathways for Law–Business Integration in the Context of Opening and Innovation–Building a Win–Win Bridge for Coordinated Beijing–Hong Kong Development”.

 

 

During the roundtable discussion, Deputy Secretary General WANG first underlined the unique and important role played by arbitration, as a business card of a law-based business environment, in the broader context of law–business integration. He introduced CIETAC as a long-established, authoritative and professional arbitration institution in the field of cross-border dispute resolution, and shared its distinctive experience over the years in coordinating international rules, efficiently resolving cross-border commercial and investment disputes, and “going global to better serve enterprises in their going-global endeavours”.

 

 

The roundtable discussion was moderated by YU Yang, General Manager of Products of Greater China of Wolters Kluwer.  Drawing on their respective practical experience, ZHANG Xi, Chief Representative of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre Beijing Office,  SHI Yongwen, President of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong,  XU Kaiyi, Council Member of the Law Society of Hong Kong and Vice Chair of its Greater China Legal Affairs Committee,  WANG Qingyou, Director of Anli Partners,  CHENG Shoutai, Chief Partner of Tahota Law Firm,  WANG Xiaoli, CEO of CP Group's Commercial Real Estate China-Region Business Management and General Manager of the CP Center,  and YANG Guang, Co-founder and General Manager of the International Business of Waterdrop Inc.,  each gave engaging remarks.

 

 

The symposium enhanced participants’ understanding of “law–business integration” as a key point for institutional opening-up, and will help further build an open, secure, transparent and predictable business environment that is oriented towards the global market.
