On the afternoon of 6 November 2025, Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), received a delegation from the Taiwan Jurist Association in Beijing and held a discussion.

 

 

The Taiwan Jurist Association was established in 2003 and remains the sole judicial association in Taiwan jointly founded by judges, prosecutors, lawyers and academics. Over the years, it has played an active role in promoting exchanges among legal professionals and advancing cross-strait communication and cooperation in the legal field.

Secretary-General Wang Chengjie extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He provided a brief overview of CIETAC’s recent developments, including case statistics, diversified dispute resolution services, digital institution development, international exchanges and cooperation, and participation in global arbitration governance. He stated that over the years, CIETAC has made unremitting efforts in properly handling cross-strait economic and trade disputes, promoting cross-strait arbitration and legal exchanges and cooperation, and advancing mutual recognition and enforcement of cross-strait arbitration awards, thereby playing a positive role in fostering cross-strait economic and trade development. Moving forward, CIETAC will continue to provide high-level, diversified dispute resolution services, deepen exchanges and cooperation, broaden consensus, and establish high-quality platforms to further promote the wider use of arbitration and advance cross-strait economic and trade relations.

Cai Biyu, Chairperson of the Taiwan Jurist Association outlined the association’s efforts in promoting cross-strait legal exchanges. She stated that this visit to CIETAC aimed to enhance cross-strait exchanges in the field of arbitration, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution, with the hope of establishing closer cooperative ties with CIETAC in the future.

During the meeting, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on how to deepen the integration of arbitration and mediation and the development of diversified dispute resolution practices.

 

 

Vice Chairmen Chen Rongchuan and Li Yiguang, Director Chen Wenqi, Supervisor Huang Yiteng, Alternate Director Wang Mingyong, and Executive Secretary Gao Yucheng of the Taiwan Jurist Association; Vice President Xie Changqing of the Arbitration Court of CIETAC; Deputy Director-General Wei Guofu of the Beijing Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office; and heads of relevant departments from CIETAC and the Beijing Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office attended the meeting.
