On May 9 and 10, 2025, the first International Investment Law Conference of the Special Financial Zone in Forest City ("the Conference") was successfully held in Forest City, Johor, Malaysia. Ms. Miao Qing, Deputy Director of the Case Filing & Consulting Division of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission ("CIETAC"), was invited to attend the Conference and delivered a speech as a panelist.
The Conference brought together global investors, legal experts, and policymakers to engage in in-depth discussions on key topics, including: "Investment Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in BRICS Expanded Countries" "New Legal Trends in Cross-Border M&A in Asia" "Latest Developments in BRICS+ Financial Systems and Payment Technologies" and "New Perspectives on Cross-Border Investment: Opportunities in China, ASEAN and India & Insights into the U.S. Tariff War".
Ms. Miao Qing was invited to participate in the panel discussion titled "Building an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Network for BRICS Countries." The session was moderated by Mr. Prashant Kumar, President of the Bar Association of India. Ms. Heather Yee Jing Wah, Assistant Director of the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) also engaged in the discussions. The panel experts conducted an in-depth analysis of the current economic and trade interactions among BRICS nations and the status of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. From an institutional perspective, they examined the necessity and feasibility of establishing an ADR network among BRICS countries, expressing strong confidence in the future development of dispute resolution services within the BRICS framework. During the session, Ms. Miao Qing introduced the 2024 Arbitration Rules of CIETAC and latest developments of arbitration practice in China.

The attendees demonstrated keen interest in the development and professional practices of CIETAC. Following the panel discussions and keynote speeches, multiple participants proactively exchanged views with CIETAC representatives on specialized topics, and the venue was filled with vibrant discussions.
During the conference, CIETAC showcased its achievements in the field of dispute resolution, further enhancing its international influence and facilitating the convergence of global arbitration practices.
