On the morning of April 17, 2025, Wang Chengjie, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission  (CIETAC), welcomed and had a symposium with a delegation led by Bernard DEWIT, Chairman of Belgian-Chinese Economic and Commercial Council (BCECC) , Partner of DEWIT LAW OFFICE  and Arbitrator of CIETAC.

 

 

Established in the 1980s, BCECC is committed to promoting economic and trade cooperation between Belgium and China. It has about 550 Belgian and Chinese enterprises as members now, and has played an active and important role in promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

During the symposium, Wang Chengjie and Bernard DEWIT firstly reviewed the friendly exchanges between CIETAC and BCECC. Then, Wang Chengjie briefed on the development of CIETAC in recent years in the areas of case acceptance, training of internationalized arbitration teams, rule revision and innovation, construction of multi-dispute resolution mechanism, full-process online dispute resolution service, international exchanges and cooperation, and cultivation of legal talents for foreign affairs, and so on. Besides, he said that as the world’s leading international arbitration institution, CIETAC has always been committed to providing high-quality dispute resolution services for global parties, leading the construction of an inclusive and open international arbitration ecosystem, and striving to build an arbitration platform with international influence. In the future, CIETAC is willing to strengthen exchanges with BCECC and jointly promote the healthy development of China-Belgium economic and trade cooperation.

Bernard DEWIT spoke highly of the achievements of CIETAC in promoting the development of China and international arbitration, and appreciated the positive contribution of CIETAC to the construction of global dispute resolution mechanism. Meanwhile, he looked forward to carrying out multi-field and in-depth exchanges and cooperation with CIETAC to jointly promote the development of international arbitration.
