On April 21, the seminar “Empowering Chinese Enterprises to Land in the Middle East: Practical Ways and Legal Safeguards” was successfully held in Qianhai, Shenzhen. The event was co-organized by the CCPIT Shenzhen Committee, Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce , Shenzhen Qianhai Authority , and Shenzhen Qianhai e-Station, with support from CIETAC South China Sub-Commission, Shenzhen National Commercial Authentication Center, CCPIT Shenzhen (Dubai) Legal Liaison Office, DMCC Free Zone (China Representative Office), Sulaiman Al Naqbi Advocates and Legal Consultants,  and Qianhai SZ-HK Fund Town. 

Huang Yi, Director of the CCPIT (Shenzhen) Department of Legal Affairs and Level I Investigator , delivered the opening speech. Jin Xi, Deputy Secretary-General of CIETAC South China Sub-Commission, attended the keynote speech session and shared her insights. Other speakers included Li Jiasong, Deputy Director of the Business Service Department of Shenzhen Qianhai Authority; Li Feng, Managing Partner of Sulaiman Al Naqbi Advocates and Legal Consultants, and founder of Ying Tian International; and Zheng Dan, Senior International Business Representative of DMCC China and Ying Tian International; Zhao Wenjie, Senior Consultant of Sulaiman Al Naqbi Advocates and Legal Consultants; Zhang Yan, Deputy Director of Shenzhen National Commercial Authentication Center; and He Shanshan, in charge of the Secretariat of Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce.

Deputy Secretary-General Jin Xi delivered a keynote speech on “From International Arbitration to Regional Practices: CIETAC Escorting Chinese Enterprises Ploughing into the Middle East”. She introduced the inherent advantages of arbitration in resolving corporate foreign-related disputes and CIETAC’s extensive experience in foreign-related arbitration, referencing instances of CIETAC arbitral awards enforced overseas. Deputy Secretary-General Jin Xi emphasized that arbitration clauses serve as a critical “safety rope” for enterprises going abroad, and shared insights on how to balance various factors in drafting and negotiation of arbitration clauses.

This seminar attracted over 50 business professionals and service providers supporting overseas expansion, who engaged in discussions on the development opportunities and feasible pathways for Chinese enterprises to expand into the Middle East. Drawing on their own experiences, the speakers provided comprehensive practical pathways and solid legal safeguards to help Chinese enterprises seize new opportunities and successfully land in the Middle East.
