CHINA INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC AND TRADE ARBITRATION COMMISSION

On 19 February 2025, Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission ("CIETAC"), received the delegation from the Nine Arbitration Chambers of Singapore ("NAC") led by its Chief Representative Rebecca Huang (Huang Yunfeng) in Beijing.

NAC is an independent arbitration and mediation organization registered in Singapore, with members from eight countries in the Asia-Pacific and North America. These members possess extensive experience in handling various complex commercial disputes.

 

 

During the discussion, both sides explored ways to enhance mutual trust and understanding and strengthen international arbitration communication and cooperation. Secretary-General Wang Chengjie introduced CIETAC's business and international development in recent years, with a focus on its efforts in rule-making and procedure management. He highlighted CIETAC's commitment to incorporating the latest international arbitration practices, respecting the autonomy of the parties, safeguarding the rights of the parties in cross-border disputes, promoting international economic and trade development through arbitration, building international arbitration cooperation mechanisms, creating platforms for international arbitration cooperation, and nurturing future talents in international commercial arbitration. Rebecca Huang (Huang Yunfeng) praised CIETAC's achievements in international commercial dispute resolution. Eight independent arbitrators and mediators from NAC, representing different countries including Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, India, Australia, and Singapore, introduced their respective professional strengths in commercial disputes. They expressed their willingness to leverage their expertise to actively participate in international arbitration practices and collaborate with CIETAC to promote the development of international arbitration legal services.

Both sides further expressed their common desire to strengthen cooperation in international dispute resolution and reached a broad consensus on how to promote the integrated development of international arbitration and safeguard the continuous and healthy development of international economic and trade activities.

Xie Changqing, Vice President of the Arbitration Court of CIETAC, Wei Ziping, Director of the Supervision and Coordination Division and Secretary-General of the South-China Sub-Commission of CIETAC, and Yin Tianshu, Deputy Director of the International Cases Division of CIETAC accompanied the discussion.
