On the morning of December 19, 2024, Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”) led a delegation to visit the Hainan Provincial Department of Justice  and had a discussion with Wang Shuai, Deputy Director General of the Hainan Provincial Department of Justice on the topic of “Construction of International Commercial Arbitration Center”.

Secretary General Wang Chengjie firstly listened to the introduction of “Improvement of Diversified Dispute Resolution Mechanisms” “Construction of International Commercial Arbitration Center in Hainan FTP” and “Overall Situation of Rule of Law in Foreign-related Issues” by the representatives of relevant departments of the Department of Justice of Hainan Province. He also expressed his gratitude to the Hainan Provincial Department of Justice for its long-term support to CIETAC and CIETAC Hainan Arbitration Center. He shared the latest development of CIETAC from the perspective of how to give full play to the advantageous role of CIETAC and CIETAC Hainan Arbitration Center in Hainan FTP, and introduced in detail CIETAC's relevant initiatives in promoting China's arbitration to the international arena, strengthening credibility and cultivating talents in rule of law in relation to foreign affairs. He pointed out that CIETAC has always been committed to enhancing the development of China's legal service, especially the foreign-related legal service, and contributing wisdom and strength to promote the rule of law at home and abroad in an integrated manner, and to participate in international governance. Secretary General Wang Chengjie emphasized the importance of using the FTP facilitation policies and applying them to the creation of a preferred place for dispute resolution. CIETAC and CIETAC Hainan Arbitration Center will continue to play an active role in the construction of an international commercial arbitration center for the Indo-Pacific region in Hainan FTP, and serve the smooth sealing of the FTP to realize a higher level of opening up to the outside world.
