From December 14 to 16, 2023, the 2023 Mediator Comprehensive Training Course of CCPIT Jiangsu Mediation Center was successfully held in Nanjing Jiangsu Sub-Commission of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (hereinafter referred to as "Jiangsu Sub-Commission of CIETAC ") was invited to participate in the training.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Wang Yang, Minister of the Legal Department of CCPIT Jiangsu and Arbitrator of CIETAC delivered a mobilizing speech. In his speech, Minister Wang Yang reviewed the background of the establishment of CCPIT Jiangsu Mediation Center and introduced the development of mediation work. He pointed out that in recent years, the international and domestic commercial mediation markets have been gradually expanding, the number of commercial mediation organizations is increasing, and the mediation work is facing a new situation. He hoped that mediators could work collaboratively, give full play to their own advantages, effectively unite and integrate resources, and conduct more researches on international economic and trade laws at the same time, arming at that commercial mediation can play a greater role in the diversified dispute resolution mechanism and contribute to the development of a rule-of-law-based business environment and the growth of an open economy in Jiangsu Province.

During three-day training, Ms. Zhang Hanqing, Deputy Chief Judge of the Sixth Civil Division of the Intermediate People's Court of Nanjing Province (Nanjing International Commercial Court) and the third-level senior judge gave a lecture on the topic of "civil and commercial mediation and mediation docking"; Ms. Zhou Xiaohong, Vice President of the Jiangsu Provincial Mediation Association and President of the Nanjing Mediation Association, gave a lecture on the topic of "mediators of professional ethics and professionalism"; Mr. Gong Baihua, Professor of Fudan University Law School, gave a lecture on the topic of "Legal affairs of foreign-related business negotiations and commercial mediation"; Mr. Peng Yue, Dean and Professor of Nanjing University Law School, gave a lecture on the topic of "Foreign-related commercial mediation theory and practice development dynamics"; Mr. Ma Xiangzhen, Second Grade Professor of the School of Literature of Southeast University, gave a lecture on the topic of "Communication Skills in Mediation"; Mr. Guo Wenli, Assistant President and General Manager of the Department of Intelligent Governance Affairs of BeiMing Software, gave a lecture on the topic of "Key Points of Online Mediation". The training covered current international frontier hotspots and mediation skills. More than 90 mediators, lawyers, scholars and legal service providers attended the training.

Diversification of dispute resolution services has become one of the major development trends of dispute resolution in the world today. As a pioneer in China's arbitration practice, CIETAC has pioneered the "Eastern Approach" of combining arbitration and mediation. In May 2018, CIETAC set up a mediation center to provide specialized commercial mediation services. In June 2023, it announced the new roster of mediatorsand a team of first-class domestic and international mediator experts was established. CIETAC not only provides independent and impartial arbitration services of international reputation, but also provides domestic and foreign parties with multifaceted dispute resolution services, such as mediation and construction dispute assessment, relying on its own rich dispute resolution experience and expert resources.

By participating in this training, Jiangsu Sub-Commission of CIETAC has established extensive  connections with the "circle of friends" of Jiangsu commercial mediation. In the future, Jiangsu Sub-commission will further enhance the mechanism construction, deepen the cooperation with relevant organizations, improve the intergration mechanism of mediation, mediation-litigation, and mediation-litigation-mediation, and provide the parties with "one-stop" service in diversified dispute resolution.
