From December 7th to 8th, 2023，the third advanced training course on legal practice in international commercial arbitration (the "Training Course") was held at the multifunctional hall on the ninth floor of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission ("CIETAC"). This training course is jointly organized by CIETAC and Renmin University of China Law School. It is a high-end training aimed at legal practitioners, with the goal of systematically cultivating high-end legal talents in the field of international commercial arbitration, having a strong faculty and rich course content. Since its establishment in 2012, the training course has trained over a hundred students over a decade, including legal professionals from central ministries, the Supreme People's Court, local people's courts, law firms, and enterprises. This event is the seventh centralized teaching and training session of the third training class, with a total of 25 lawyers and corporate legal students from all over the country participating in the training.

This training was hosted by Professor Li Xiuqi from the Renmin University of China Law School, and the first class was taught by Vice President Gu Yan of the Arbitration Court of CIETAC.

Vice President Gu Yan, based on the development history of China's foreign-related arbitration and the history and overview of CIETAC, shared with the trainees practical issues and solutions in arbitration from five aspects: "Institutional arbitration and ad hoc arbitration", "Selection of arbitration institutions", "How to sign an effective arbitration agreement", "Selection of applicable law and CISG", and "Drafting and review of arbitration awards". After the lecture, Vice President Gu Yan also had discussions with classmates on relevant issues.

The instructors for this training course include Ms. Qu Zhujun, former director of the CIETAC Committee Working Department, Ms. Zhou Wen, director of the Filing Department of the CIETAC, Ms. Zhang Ye, director of the domestic business department of the CIETAC, Ms. Wei Ziping, director of the supervision and coordination department of the CIETAC, and Ms. Jiao Yani, director of the Arbitration Research Institute of CIETAC. Based on the international frontline perspective of CIETAC and long-term arbitration work experience, combined with the management of arbitration cases, promotion of arbitration procedures, and other arbitration related matters, taking a broad perspective from the entire arbitration process, they respectively gave lectures to the trainees of the training course on "The New Version of The Arbitration Rules", " Practice of Formulating and Filing Arbitration Agreements", "How to Efficiently Promote Arbitration Procedures", "Issues Related to Judicial Review of Arbitration", and " Thinking and Writing of Arbitration Judgments".

For a long time, CIETAC has attached great importance to the cultivation of foreign-related arbitration talents. In collaboration with government departments, domestic and foreign legal practice institutions, industry organizations, and universities, CIETAC has cultivated a large number of high-quality international arbitration talents through organizing special seminars, lectures, training, and simulated arbitration courts. In the future, CIETAC will continue to adhere to and continue to promote the cultivation of high-end international arbitration talents, making positive contributions to the construction of China's foreign-related rule of law.
