On November 20, the 3rd “International Communication of the Rule of Law in China” Academic Seminar (“Seminar”) organized by the Academy for the Rule of Law of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) was held in Beijing. With the theme of “The Rule of Law Involving Foreign Parties and International Communication”, experts and scholars from politics and law colleges, judicial organs, publicity agencies, scientific research institutions, and news media were invited to discuss the latest academic achievements in the rule of law involving foreign parties, and current situation, challenges, solutions and suggestions for the international communication of the rule of law in China. Huang Jin, Professor of Academy for the Rule of Law of CUPL, Ma Huaide, President of CUPL, and other guests delivered opening speeches.

In the Seminar, the “Ten Typical Cases of the International Communication of the Rule of Law in China” in 2022 was released. The China Arbitration Summit 2022 and the 2nd CIETAC Global Arbitrators Forum (“the Summit”) co-organized by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”) and the All China Lawyers Association was selected as one of the ten typical cases.

Xie Changqing, Vice President of the Arbitration Court of CIETAC, attended the launch ceremony and the Seminar on invitation. Xie said that since its establishment by the Government Administration Council  in 1954, CIETAC has always been committed to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese and foreign parties, optimizing the business environment, and promoting the rule of law in China as its duties and missions. The innovative development of CIETAC for more than 60 years represents the history of striving and communication of China’s arbitration to the world, which has become an important force in the international communication of China’s rule of law. Under the background of the new era, CIETAC will continue to strengthen self-building, strive to play a more active and important role in the resolution of international economic, trade and investment disputes, and lay a solid foundation for the international communication of China’s arbitration. At the same time, CIETAC will join hands with all walks of life to strengthen publicity, actively participate in international cooperation and exchanges and international arbitration legal governance, expand the circle of arbitration friends, better tell China’s arbitration story, make China’s voice heard, and strive to enhance the international influence of China’s arbitration.

The China Arbitration Summit, a high-level event organized by CIETAC, has become one of the most influential events in the field of international commercial arbitration. Since 2015, CIETAC has successfully hosted eight sessions, with extensive influence in China and abroad. The China Arbitration Summit 2022 and the 2nd CIETAC Global Arbitrator Forum was held on September 6, 2022 both onsite and online. The theme of the Summit was “Towards Intelligent & Interconnected International Arbitration”. Relevant leaders from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme People’s Court, delivered opening remarks. Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary General of UNCITRAL, delivered a speech. More than 200 representatives from major arbitration institutions, judges, arbitrators, lawyers, scholars, and industrial and commercial practitioners at home and abroad attended the Summit on site. The live streaming of the Summit received around 3.163 million audience from 141 countries and regions. The 2nd CIETAC Global Arbitrator Forum was held and the "2022 CIETAC Global Arbitrators Initiative" was launched. Arbitrators from 144 countries and regions with common beliefs and pursuits proposed to jointly build consensus on solidarity and cooperation, uphold belief in fairness and justice, promote innovative development of arbitration, facilitate progress of the youth, create best practices in diversified dispute resolution, build a shared future for mankind and achieve mutual benefit. The event showcased the achievements of China's arbitration rule of law and the latest trend of international arbitration, built an international arbitration exchange and cooperation platform, and further enhanced the international status and influence of China's arbitration.
