From November 12 to 13, 2022, China Academy of Arbitration Law 2022 Annual Conference & the 15th China Arbitration and Justice Forum was held in Shanghai with the theme of "Implementing the 20th CPC National Congress Spirit and Promoting High-quality Development of Arbitration in China". Xu Yanbo, Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Secretary General of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) was invited to attend the forum and delivered the closing speech.

The forum was hosted by China Academy of Arbitration Law, organized by Shanghai Arbitration Commission and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and sponsored by CIETAC and China Maritime Arbitration Commission. Ke Liangdong, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Zhou Hanmin, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai People's Political Consultative Conference, Huang Jin, Vice President of China Law Society, Zhang Shuming, Vice President of the Fourth Civil Trial Chamber of the Supreme People's Court and other leaders attended the forum and delivered the speech. Shi Hai, second-level inspector of Public Legal Service Administration of Ministry of Justice and Vice President of China Academy of Arbitration Law, presided over the opening ceremony and made the keynote speech. About 15,000 people across the country, including judges, heads of arbitration institutions, experts and scholars, legal representatives and lawyers, attended the forum online and offline.

In the closing remarks, Secretary of Party Committee Xu Yanbo reviewed the development of CIETAC since its founding nearly 70 years ago. He pointed out, with the historical mission of promoting international economic and trade exchanges and serving national construction, CIETAC has made positive contributions to China's reform and opening up and the development of foreign trade and economic cooperation. Standing at a new historical starting point, CIETAC forged ahead, continued to explore and innovate, and established an international network layout which connects China and foreign countries and serves the world. Secretary of Party Committee Xu Yanbo further put forward three suggestions on the practice and theoretical research of arbitration. Firstly, to establish the arbitration industry carrying out the 20th CPC National Congress Spirit, and implement work objectives, paths and requirements of the 20th CPC National Congress. Secondly, to further study and promote the creation of arbitration-friendly institutional environment, policies and social environment. Thirdly, to explore the arbitrability and implementation mechanism of new disputes in the new economy. In the end, Secretary Xu Yanbo said that CIETAC will seize the opportunity of work deployment of the 20th CPC National Congress to open new space for arbitration cause, take the initiative to assume the mission of arbitration and arbitration legal research in the new era and journey, work together with all colleagues in the Chinese arbitration community to boost the construction of international commercial arbitration center and make China a new destination for international commercial arbitration. and write a more splendid arbitration chapter in the process of promoting national rejuvenation. 

The two-day forum featured eight parallel forums, including major issues concerning the development of China's arbitration in the new era, namely "Building Credibility of China's arbitration" "the Establishment of International Arbitration Venue/Arbitration Center" "Cultivation of Foreign-related Arbitration Talents" "International Shipping Arbitration in the Post-COVID-19 Era" "Judicial Review of Arbitration" "Conflicts of Interest and Avoidance of Arbitrators" "Deepening Reform of Arbitration Institutions" "Professional Arbitration and Commercial Mediation". Jiao Yani, Secretary General of CIETAC Shanghai Sub-Commission, made a speech titled "Judicial Review of Arbitration and Construction of International Arbitration Center". In the speech, she overviewed judicial review of arbitration in China, issues and thoughts frequently arising from judicial review, and put forward suggestions for improvement.
