On November 30, 2021, Wang Chengjie, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of CIETAC welcomed the visit of Mohammad Monsour Uddin, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of People's Republic of Bangladesh (hereinafter referred to as “Bangladesh”) and the delegation in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on risk prevention and dispute resolution between Chinese and Bangladeshi enterprises and the construction of a business-friendly environment for bilateral economic and trade transactions.
Monsour expressed his gratitude to CIETAC for the reception and introduced the main economic and trade cooperation and communication between China and Bangladesh in recent years. He believes that with the deepening of cooperation between China and Bangladesh and the increasing number of commercial disputes, it is necessary to seek professional and efficient dispute resolution for promoting the development of bilateral economic and trade. He hopes to learn the experience from CIETAC in diversified dispute resolution, so as to help resolve commercial disputes in Bangladesh and neighboring countries, and create a friendly business environment for enterprises.
Secretary-General Wang Chengjie warmly welcomed Mansour and his delegation, briefing on the characteristics of arbitration, in particular the difference between arbitration and other dispute resolution mechanisms. Wang Chengjie further highlighted that CIETAC, through the “Belt and Road Initiative”, has been promoting cooperation in international arbitration and dispute resolution and building the platform for the communication on the rule of law with numerous domestic and contributing to the improvement of international arbitration service. He believes that CIETAC is able to meet the needs of multinational corporations in resolving disputes involving different industries, languages and application of laws with its extensive experience in the practice of international arbitration and the panel of global and professional arbitrators. CIETAC is looking forward to the in-depth cooperation with the Bangladeshi Embassy to help enterprises from both countries to prevent legal risks.
Both sides also exchanged opinions on how to make better use of CIETAC’s online case-filing system and online hearing system to serve multinational enterprises and improve the efficiency of dispute resolution under the COVID-19 pandemic, and reached consensus on the institutional cooperation afterwards.
