On the afternoon of December 16, 2020, Mr. Wang Chengjie, the Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of CIETAC, visited China Securities Regulatory Commission Shanghai Securities Regulatory Bureau and had a discussion with Cheng Hehong, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Director-General of Shanghai Securities Regulatory Bureau. 

Secretary-General Wang Chengjie briefly introduced the recent development of CIETAC and its Shanghai Sub-commission, and reviewed the long history of cooperation between CIETAC and China Securities Regulatory Commission. Wang pointed out that CIETAC, as the earliest international arbitration institution established in China, has accumulated rich experience in commercial arbitration and established good reputation and credibility around the world with more than 60 years’ development, and its awards has been widely recognized in various jurisdictions and countries. At the same time, adhering to the spirit of innovation, CIETAC has created diversified dispute resolution mechanisms including financial disputes resolution, and continuously improved the information construction including online case filing and virtual hearings, so as to timely and effectively respond to the challenges brought by emergencies such as COVID-19 to arbitration procedures. In Shanghai’s construction of international financial center, CIETAC is willing and able to make greater contribution to the construction and improvement of the legal and business environment of Shanghai capital market by cooperation with Shanghai Securities Regulatory Bureau.

Director-General Cheng Hehong agreed with Wang's views and suggestions. He pointed out that as a world-renowned international arbitration institution, CIETAC had always been recognized by parties both at home and abroad for its independence, professionalism and impartiality. Shanghai Securities Regulatory Bureau also expressed a strong desire to have further cooperation with CIETAC and  jointly explore financial dispute resolution mechanisms for securities and futures that could better match the l development of market and better serve the needs of the parties.

Ms. Jiao Yani, the Secretary-General of CIETAC Shanghai Sub-commission, Ms. Lu Fei, the Deputy Director of Business Development Division of CIETAC, Ms. Qian Liping, the Inspector of Shanghai Securities Regulatory Bureau, and Mr. Zeng Jifeng, the Director of Legal Affairs Division of Shanghai Securities Regulatory Bureau, participated in the discussion.
