On the morning of December 18, 2020, the delegation led by Wang Chengjie, the Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of CIETAC, visited Shanghai Bar Association and had a discussion with Ji Nuo, the President of Shanghai Bar Association. They held active discussions on how to enhance exchanges and deepen cooperation between CIETAC and Shanghai Bar Association.

President Ji Nuo warmly received Secretary-General Wang Chengjie and his delegation, and showed them around the Exhibition Gallery of Shanghai Bar Association. The exhibition  reviews the history of the lawyer industry in Shanghai, one of the origins of China's lawyer system, and demonstrates the status and role of lawyers in the country's social and economic development, social governance and the construction of rule of law.

Secretary-General Wang Chengjie expressed his thanks to Shanghai Bar Association for the warm reception and then briefly introduced the recent development of CIETAC and its Shanghai Sub-commission. In his introduction, Secretary-General Wang focused on the arbitration cases involving Shanghai parties accepted by CIETAC, and emphasized the important position of commercial legal services such as foreign-related dispute resolution in Shanghai’s construction of international financial center and international arbitration center. Secretary-General Wang mentioned that CIETAC had professional and experienced foreign-related dispute resolution practice, and had established good international influence and credibility. CIETAC and Shanghai Bar Association should strengthen the cooperation to provide more efficient and high-quality foreign-related arbitration services for the enterprises in and around Shanghai, to support the training of Shanghai's foreign-related arbitration legal talents and to contribute to Shanghai’s construction of Asia-pacific international arbitration center. 

President Ji Nuo affirmed the great contribution made by CIETAC to the development of arbitration in China and expressed the willingness of Shanghai Bar Association to strengthen cooperation with CIETAC in the future. He mentioned that, as a self-disciplined industry organization for Shanghai lawyers, Shanghai Bar Association always aims to improve the political position of lawyers and promote the professionalization, specialization, marketization and internationalization of lawyers. And Shanghai Bar Association is more than willing to deepen the cooperation with CIETAC to make full play of their platform advantages in contributing to the promotion of China's arbitration and talent cultivation.

Ms. Jiao Yani, the Secretary-General of CIETAC Shanghai Sub-commission, Ms. Lu Fei, the Deputy Director of Business Development Division of CIETAC, and the heads of relevant business divisions of Shanghai Bar Association participated in the meeting.
