On the afternoon of December 16, 2020, the delegation led by Wang Chengjie, the Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of CIETAC, visited Shanghai Insurance Exchange and had a meeting with Zeng Yujin, Chairman of Shanghai Insurance Exchange and Wang Guangren, Secretary of the Committee for Discipline Inspection of Shanghai Insurance Exchange. They had an in-depth exchange of views on how to promote cooperation in insurance dispute settlement.

Shanghai Insurance Exchange (SHIE) was formally approved to establish by the State Council  in November 2015, and officially opened on June 12, 2016. It is directly managed by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission and its business includes providing venues, facilities and services for the trading of insurance, reinsurance, insurance asset management and the related products, formulating and implementing relevant business rules, providing payment and settlement services for insurance, reinsurance, insurance asset management, and conducting research and consultation related to insurance and reinsurance markets. The positioning and goal of Shanghai Insurance Exchange is to form an on-the-spot insurance trading ecosystem aggregating entities, resources and elements, and strive to build a world-class exchange platform that was "based in Shanghai, facing the whole country, and radiating the world".

Secretary General Wang Chengjie expressed his appreciation for the achievements of SHIE. He introduced the history of CIETAC, summarized the important achievements made by CIETAC in recent years and the latest development of CIETAC Shanghai Sub-commission. He pointed out that as an important specialized field of the financial industry, insurance disputes need to be professionally settled, which was highly consistent with the characteristics of arbitration by experts. He hoped that CIETAC and its Shanghai Sub-commission and Shanghai Insurance Exchange could further strengthen exchanges and cooperation to explore innovative dispute resolution mechanisms suitable for the insurance industry.

Ms. Jiao Yani, the Secretary-General of CIETAC Shanghai Sub-commission, Ms. Lu Fei, the Deputy Director of Business Development Division of CIETAC, and the relevant directors of Shanghai Insurance Exchange participated in the meeting.
