On the afternoon of 25 November 2020, Mr. Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CIETAC had symposium with Mr. Xiong Shiming, member of party committee and Deputy-Director General of Chongqing Justice Bureau (“Bureau”), and other responsible officers. They exchanged views about how to improve foreign-related commercial dispute resolution capacity in Chongqing, utilizing CIETAC’s platform function as an international dispute resolution institution, and jointly build Chongqing as a new high ground for regional dispute resolution.

In the symposium, Secretary General Wang Chengjie give a brief introduction about CIETAC’s recent development, especially CIETAC’s advantages on the innovation of rules and system. He expressed that CIETAC would make full use of the experience accumulated in CIETAC’s 60-year history  to serve domestic and international parties, the characteristics benefited from CIETAC’s nation-wide Commission-Sub Commission integral layout, thus contributing to building the western hub Chongqing to be a new high ground for the opening-up and dispute resolution. The establishment of CIETAC Southwest Sub-Commission in 2009 in Chongqing was an important measure adopted by CIETAC to provide convenient and legal service for market entities in Chongqing and the Southwest region. Under the new situation that building Chongqing to be a high ground for dispute resolution, CIETAC South Sub-Commission would enhance the cooperation with the Bureau, devote to promote arbitration law system, complete foreign-related lawyers cultivation mechanism, eventually improve the overall foreign-related arbitration and legal service level in Chongqing and Southwestern region.

Mr. Xiong Shiming introduced the basic situation of Chongqing’s foreign-related dispute resolution. He pointed out Chongqing has important influence in regional development as a new high ground for opening-up of the country’s inland regions. The Bureau hoped to conduct positive communication and cooperation with CIETAC and CIETAC Southwest Sub-Commission, enhance the mutual understanding among local enterprises, lawyers and arbitration institution, to achieve the vision that CIETAC’s advanced experience and practice not only apply to dispute resolution, but also contribute to the scandalized development of the whole industry.

In the symposium, CIETAC and the Bureau reached broad consensus about exerting judicial department’s supporting and managing duty, utilizing CIETAC’s role as a reputable dispute resolution institution, thereby providing kinetic energy for building Chongqing to be a new high ground for dispute resolution.

Mr. Wang Ruichen, Secretary General of CIETAC Southwest Sub-Commission, and relevant officials of Chongqing Justice Bureau attended the symposium.
