In the afternoon on 26 November 2020, Mr. Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CIETAC, presented at the “New Western Land-Sea Corridor International Commercial Dispute Resolution Forum” (“Forum”), of which CIETAC Southwest Sub-Commission was one of the organizers and delivered address. Other organizers of the Forum were Singapore International Arbitration Center (“SIAC”), Chongqing Bar Association, China Maritime Arbitration Commission Southwest Sub-Commission, and Chongqing Arbitration Commission. Over 200 participants, which comes from Chongqing Justice Bureau, transportation and cross-border trade industries, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and law offices, attended the Forum.
In Secretary-General Wang’s address, he said, Chongqing was the intersection of “Belt and Road” and the Two Rivers’ Economic Belt, also the starting point of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. Chongqing would occupy an important strategic position in regional investment, financial, and trade activities; it would also be an essential section in the new development pattern where domestic circulation plays the main body, and domestic and international double circulation promotes each other. In the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, CIETAC Southwest Sub-Commission would base itself upon the needs of market entities around Chongqing and the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, and provide efficient and professional arbitration service for domestic and international parties; CIETAC would introduce advanced international dispute resolution experience and practice to apply kinetic energy on the legal system construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, thereby improving the overall business environment.
After the address, Ms. Jia Ke, Vice President of Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone People’s Court, Mr. Wang Ruichen, Secretary-General of CIETAC Southwest Sub-Commission, Mr. Zhang Cunyuan, Chief Representative (China) of SIAC and other guest speakers, from the aspects of court, domestic and international arbitration institution, delivered speeches around issues on Railway Consignment Note, New Western Land-Sea Corridor’s Influence on Commercial Arbitration, and Commercial Legal Service in Regional Cooperation. The guest speakers had extensive and in-depth analysis around the theme of New Western Land-Sea Corridor Commercial Dispute Resolution. They had a multi-perspective discussion on dispute resolution procedure and methods, opportunity and challenge, theory and practice, effect, and influence.
