In order to implement regular pandemic prevention and control measures, on the basis of promoting the online filing in the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, CIETAC used high-tech intelligent technology to proceed the arbitration hearing, adopted a non-contact remote video hearing, and recently conducted a hearing for a complicated stock investment dispute that involved huge dispute amount, which achieved satisfactory results.

The case was a stock investment dispute between an individual investor and a listed company, and its traditional hearing could not be arranged due to the pandemic. In order to resolve the dispute for the parties, after consulting them, CIETAC assisted the arbitration tribunal to conduct a remote video hearing. Through the remote video hearing platform, the parties, the arbitration tribunal and the case manager were simultaneously online, and successfully conducted the hearing of the case.

The remote video hearing not only satisfied the strict requirements of non-contact under the pandemic situation, but also effectively solved the problem of being unable to hold a face-to-face hearing, effectively assisting the enterprises to resolve their disputes and creating conditions for work resumption.

The cases accepted by CIETAC are cross-border, cross-province, and with large dispute amount and complicated facts. In order to proceed hearing procedure, based on multi-dimension investigation into the need of pandemic control, requirements of arbitration procedure and the request of the parties, CIETAC explored to use internet to link the arbitral tribunal, the parties and the arbitration institution into the hearing, developed a standardized and informationized work flow and administrative mechanism, which promoted the transformation from single offline hearing to remote video hearing.
