On 1 December 2019, the Seventh Forum on the Rule of Law for Chinese Enterprises was successfully held at Renmin University of China, which was co-hosted by the Research Center of Civil and Commercial Law of Renmin University of China, the Working Committee for Rights Protection of China Enterprise Confederation, China Group Companies Association and CIETAC. The theme of the Forum is “the investment, trade and the rule of law for enterprises”, aiming at promoting the implementation of the Guidelines on Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Trade jointly issued by the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (“CPC”), The Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee,the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council, especially the guidelines on the reform and development of enterprises, investment, trade and the demand of the construction of  a country under the rule of law. The Forum also aimed at discussing about the hot issues including the reform and development of enterprises in the new era, the legal policy, system mechanism, the operation pattern of the investment trade, providing advice for enterprises to do more investment and trade, and to promote the high-quality development of enterprises.

Directors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Justice, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Institute of International Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the China Enterprise Confederation, China Group Companies Association etc., and general counsels and directors of the legal department from more than 40 companies including the China Nuclear Industry Group, China National Aviation Holding Corporation Limited, Power China, China Iron&Steel Research Institute Group, China Huaneng Group Co., LTD., China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd., China Datang Corporation Ltd., China Communication Construction Group, China Galaxy Securities Co. LTD., and scholars from more than 10 universities including Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Technology and Business University, Xi’an Polytechnic University, together with over 70 scholars from research institutions attended the forum.

Liu Peng, Executive Vice Chairman of the Working Committee for Rights Protection of China Enterprise Confederation, Mao Qixiong, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Group Companies Association, and Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CIETAC, addressed the forum respectively. Secretary General Wang briefed about the caseload and the achievements made by CIETAC in the course of internationalization and professionalization. He expressed that with the increase of China’s participation in global economic governance and regional cooperation, the rule of law for enterprises is of great importance. CIETAC has been always actively participating in the construction of the platform for rule of law and the communication with enterprises, actively participating in the rule-making of international trade law.
