On November 22, 2019, the “Belt and Road” International Commercial Arbitration Legal Service Forum of the 2019 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Exposition was held in Kunming. This forum was co-hosted by Kunming Municipal Academy of Law, Kunming Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Kunming Municipal Bureau of Commerce (CCPIT Kunming Sub-branch), Kunming Judicial Bureau, the Management Committee of Kunming Economic Development Zone, and was organized by Kunming International Commercial Arbitration Service Center. The forum focused on the role of international arbitration and mediation in promoting the development of free trade zone, and aimed to share and integrate legal resources in South and Southeast Asia and actively integrate and serve the Belt and Road Initiative and free trade pilot zones. Ms. Zhu Binbin, Deputy Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Kunming Municipal Party Committee and Executive Deputy Chairman of the Kunming Municipal Academy of Law, attended the forum and delivered an opening speech.

Altogether 13 domestic and overseas industry professionals shared their experiences and practices on the role of international arbitration and mediation to prevent and resolve international commercial disputes. Mr. Wang Ruichen, Secretary General of CIETAC Southwest Sub-commission, attended the forum upon invitation and introduced the practical experience and comparative advantages of China's foreign-related commercial arbitration from the perspective of CIETAC.

During his stay in Kunming, Secretary-General Wang Ruichen also visited Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd. The two sides exchanged views on issues including CIETAC arbitration proceedings, how to sign an arbitration agreement, and the characteristics of the adjudication of construction project cases.
