On December 5, 2018, the Supreme People's Court symposium on the diversified resolution mechanism for international commercial disputes was held in Beijing. CIETAC became one of the first batch of arbitration institutions to enter the “one-stop” international commercial dispute diversified resolution mechanism of the International Commercial Court.

Luo Dongchuan, Vice President of the Supreme People's Court, attended the symposium and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the Supreme People’s Court initiated serval major measures to serve the “Belt and Road” construction, which include the establishment of the International Commercial Court, the International Commercial Expert Committee, the international commercial dispute resolution platform for litigation, mediation and arbitration, and the formation of a convenient, fast and low-cost "one-stop" international commercial dispute diversified resolution mechanism. They have important practical significance and far-reaching historical impact on the establishment of a legalized, internationalized and convenient business environment. He emphasized that the judges of the International Commercial Court, members of the International Commercial Expert Committee and relevant international commercial arbitration and mediation institutions shall fully understand the significance of building a "one-stop" international commercial dispute diversified resolution mechanism, expedite the establishment and improvement of the international commercial cases trial mechanism,  input their best endeavor to promotion, further strengthen the construction of smart courts, deepen mutual communication and cooperation, make use of each of their advantages, ,  converge their efforts, work together to bring the work of the International Commercial Court to a higher level and provide services and protection for the construction of the “Belt and Road”.

Zhao Jian, Vice President of the Arbitration Court of CIETAC, attended the symposium and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the Supreme People's Court  has endeavored to  create an international commercial dispute resolution platform that combines litigation, mediation and arbitration, which has injected new incentives into the development of arbitration industry and the construction of an international arbitration center in China. He emphasized that the Supreme People's Court has listed CIETAC as one of the first batch of international commercial arbitration institutions for the “one-stop” international commercial dispute diversified resolution mechanism, which was a high recognition of CIETAC’s efforts in the past 62 years. . He said that, under the strong support of ICC of the Supreme People’s Court, CIETAC would contribute its abundant overseas network and contacts, promote the "one-stop" international commercial dispute diversified resolution mechanism with Chinese characteristics by holding seminars abroad, improve the international recognition of the mechanism. CIETAC would also connect arbitration, mediation and litigation by amending and improving the arbitration rules in a timely fashion   and endeavor to construct smart arbitration, improve informatization, and ensure interconnection and resource sharing with the International Commercial Court. He emphasized that CIETAC would take the listing as an opportunity to improve the quality, efficiency, influence and public credibility of arbitration, and to actively support and cooperate with the International Commercial Court, for the purpose of making due contribution to the construction of the “Belt and Road”.

Zhang Yongjian, President of Civil Adjudication Tribunal No.4 of the Supreme People's Court,  (hereinafter referred to as " Tribunal 4 ") chaired the meeting. Wang Shumei, Vice President of Tribunal 4, read the Notice of the Office of the Supreme People's Court on Determining the First Batch of International Commercial Arbitration and Mediation Institutions Incorporated into the "One-Stop" International Commercial Dispute Diversified Resolution Mechanism. Gao Xiaoli, Vice President of the Tribunal 4, introduced the drafting background and the main content of the "Working Rules of the International Commercial Expert Committee of the Supreme People's Court (Trial)" and the "Procedural Rules of the International Commercial Court of the Supreme People's Court (Trial)" (hereinafter referred to as "the Rules of Procedure").

Per Rules of Procedure, if the dispute amount of case accepted by CIETAC exceeds RMB 300 million or a casehas international commercial significance, , the party may apply preservationto the International Commercial Court for evidence, property or conduct, may apply to the International Commercial Court for the enforcement or setting aside of the arbitral award.

The judges of the International Commercial Court, members of the International Commercial Expert Committee, and the principals of relevant international commercial arbitration institutions and mediation agencies attended the symposium and delivered speeches.
