The China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) announces the appointment of Mr. Wang Chengjie as the new Secretary-General and the President of the Arbitration Court as from July 28, 2016. Mr. Wang Chengjie has nearly 30 years’ experience in the field of dispute resolution. He worked over a long period of time for CIETAC from 1991 to 2009. He was once the division chief of the Filing Division, the Research Institute and the Business Development Division consecutively, and was appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of CIETAC as from 2007. In September 2009, Mr. Wang Chengjie was appointed the Deputy Director-General of the Commercial Legal Service Center of CCPIT and concurrently the Secretary-General of the Mediation Center of China Chamber of International Commerce. He began to act as the Director-General of the Legal Affairs Department of CCPIT from 2015.

Mr. Wang is very experienced in dispute resolution. He is on the panel of arbitrators of many arbitration institutions including CIETAC, Chinese Arbitration Association, Taipei and others, and is the mediator of the Mediation Center of China Chamber of International Commerce, etc. He ever held various positions in China Patent Agent (H.K.)Ltd., ACB International Ltd. (U.S) Beijing office and CMSCAMERON MCKENNA LLP (UK). He holds a B.A degree in international economic law from the Xiamen University and a L.L.M from the University of International Business and Economics.

Mr. Wang Chengjie will join all CIETAC colleagues to work hard to provide better dispute resolution services to the parties and to raise the credibility and international influence of Chinese arbitration.
